Dear EN readers,
Just this once, we thought it'd be interesting for you to discover Fraispertuis' next big hit, Golden Driller, without having to translate all of our French article.
So here's a sum up of Golden Driller, the new attraction that Fraispertuis-City, a nice medium French park, will be opening next year ;) :
Golden Driller at Fraispertuis-City : a new landmark in the middle of the Vosges Mountains.
Since its opening back in 1966, Fraispertuis-City has been standing out in the French middle- sized amusement parks landscape. Be it with Pirates Attack, its Splash Battle that opened in 2009, with Timber Drop (an S&S El Loco) or more recently, with smaller but equally well integrated new attractions, the park has established itself as one of the most carefully developped in its category, becoming a model for other parks of this size.
Behind the scenes lies primarily a passion : that of Patrice Fleurent and its family, that have been managing the park for generations, always with a certain taste and a long-term vision.
With its 2017 new attraction, this small park located in the middle of a clearing, in the wonderful district of Les Vosges, is about to construct a new hit. Let us present « Golden Driller » :
One free-fall tower, four different experiences.
Fraispertuis-City wanted a renowned manufacturer to take charge of this project. After a benchmark period, the park chose Intamin to build this new attraction.
Golden Driller will be a 66m / 216ft free fall tower, thus becoming the second highest drop tower in France.
What was even more unexpected is what follows : the attraction will deliver four different experiences, as the 4 nacelles will have different seat systems.
Two of them will be seated nacelles (one will be a classic one, the other will have a tilt system, tilting the whole row of seats by 20° a few seconds before the daring drop !) : both of them will be accessible for children from 1m20 (47 inches) : it will allow whole families (bave ones, indeed, as French visitors remain more fearful towards sensations than their Europen or American counterparts) to embark together and experience the drop of Golden Driller. What’smore, the new gen restraints (similar to those on Zumanjaro Drop of Doom) will allow to move more freely, and to live more intensely the attraction.
The two other nacelles will be stand up ones : one will be floorless, the other one with a floor. The latter one can only be found in Drayton Manor, UK, on a 33m-drop tower called Apocalypse. With this new attraction, at 55 meters high, Fraispertuis-City will as a consequence hold a new world record : that of the highest « stand-up tilt drop tower » in the world.
Back to the golden age of the oil industry.
If you’ve ever visited Fraispertuis-City, you know the park loves to give beautiful settings and surroundings to its attractions. Golden Driller will be no exception to this.
The name of the attraction refers to an eponymous statue, located in Tusla, OK. This statue was inagurated in 1966 (i.e the same year as the opening of Fraispertuis !) and gives tribute to « great men of the oil industry ».
This statue will be the enblem of the attraction and will appear on its logo.
The base of the tower will be surrounded with wooden buildings that remind of the golden age era. In the background, the visitors will also appreciate the view of the newly- refurbished « mountain » of the park.
The park has been working with Intamin since 2013 on this project, and its on February 1st, 2016, that the official signing of the contract took place.
Thie final touch to immerse the guests will be the music. The park entrusted IMAscore to compose an original soundtrack for attraction.
As you’ll have understood, it’s a solid project that’s underway at Fraispertuis-City. Once again, the park has appealed to renowned actors of the industry, for this attraction to be built with good taste but above all, to be consistent with the rest of the park.
You’ll find regular updates of the construction on « Fraisp’Fan » (INSERT THE LINK), the fansite of Fraispertuis-City, and we’ll discuss them through the winter on our forum. (INSERT THE LINK)
Honestly, of you happen to make a coastertrip in France, you definitely ought to make a stop by Fraispertuis-City. The staff is super friendly, the atmosphere of the park is unbelievable, the attractions more than enjoyable and the director –a true park enthusiast himself !- will be more than happy to greet you and discuss with you !
Thank you to Patrice FLEURENT’s teams for the artworks and details provided for this article !
